My boyfriend's passport hasn't been renewed but we need to fly from manchester to derby in three weeks time - is that possible without him having a renewed passport?
Thanks xxx |

Um, I think you only need a driving licence or other form of id. What I would do is check with the airline you are going with, just in case.

Sounds silly I know but my inlaws were asked for a passport to fly from Scotland to England as it was the only proof of ID that the airline accepted

You need to check with the airline, as some insist on a passport for proof of identity even though you are not leaving the UK.

Depends on the airline - you need to check with them - but you will need valid photo ID - so a passport may be needed - but a photo driving licence might do.

You don't need a passport but photo ID always comes in useful. If he has driving licence or similar use that or take passport even though it isn't in date to fly but ID might help. Happy flying!

You don't need a passport to fly within the UK. Some Airlines do ask for some sort of photo ID - phone them to ask if an out of date passport is acceptable, if they say yes get it in writing to show the checkout staff if they say no.

you might not need a passport...but you will probably need to take some form of photo i.d. - just to be on the safe side...i know people like EasyJet can be really pick-y about this!

Check what ID is needed with the airline, if you need photo ID and all you have is a passport then you will need the passport. Why on earth would you fly from Manchester to Derby??

The only time that a U.K citizen does not need a passport is when they are traveling within the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and to Ireland, and even this is at the discretion of the airline you are flying with!
Anywhere else and you will need a valid passport - there are no exceptions. |
