if you are going to visit... and are really into shopping..and what not, and you are staying in a nice hotel in manhattan...... when you stop seeing white people...that's a pretty good sign......lol...... but that is the problem too many people have a misconception about new york city---- it is safe....and very beautiful..... just plan out your vacation...... and the spots you want to cover...and enjoy!!!

Every borough has its safe and unsafe parts.

Manhattan-North Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood are generally no-no's

Bronx- Riverdale, Pelham, CIty Island are pretty safe, the rest is kinda dangerous.

Brooklyn- Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, Red Hook and East New York should be avoided

Queens-Corona, Jamaica, Queensbridge, and parts of Rosedale and Hollis should be avoided.

Staten Island.....you probably aint ever gonna go there so dont worry bout that.

your question is vague. NYC is the safest big city in the nation. I wouldnt send you to a drug den but even the the most opulent and well held up neighborhood is not without danger. It only takes a subway ride from anywhere for a predator, or one cocktail too many for a victim.
