My wife and I try to get out of town every Holiday weekend. If there is a day off on a Friday or Monday, we usually take one day off work and make it a four day trip. Because we have lived in our town for 20 years, we have pretty much seen every attraction and city within 500 miles. So we are starting to scrap the bottom of the tourist destinations.

When we tell family and friends where we are going this Holiday Weekend they usually say, " you are going there! WHY?!!)

Would you travel to a non tourist city just to get away on a long holiday weekend?

Yes, just to break up the monotony of life; see other sites and meet other people. Have a great time and don't let other people's opinions stop you from doing what you want.
