My wife and I try to get out of town every Holiday weekend. If there is a day off on a Friday or Monday, we usually take one day off work and make it a four day trip. Because we have lived in our town for 20 years, we have pretty much seen every attraction and city within 500 miles. So we are starting to scrap the bottom of the tourist destinations.

When we tell family and friends where we are going this Holiday Weekend they usually say, " you are going there! WHY?!!)

Would you travel to a non tourist city just to get away on a long holiday weekend?

HECK yeah! That's why they call them GETAWAY weekends!

I live in San Diego, so I can relate. If someone asks me ONE MORE TIME about Shamu, sometimes I think I'm just going to SCREAM. LOL...

Yes, just to break up the monotony of life; see other sites and meet other people. Have a great time and don't let other people's opinions stop you from doing what you want.

    Have a great weekend!

Sure, just because someplace isn't a major tourist destination doesn't mean there's nothing interesting there. Most places have interesting festivals or good restaurants or even just a change of scenery. I have no problem with going back to places I've been before either.
